Mixology Clothing Company is proud to highlight the incredible work of Friends of Karen and the success of its annual Defying Gravity Gala, held on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Tribeca Rooftop, where CEO Jordan Edwards, was honored with the Business Leadership Award. The event brought together supporters, community advocates and partners committed to uplifting families facing significant medical challenges.
In accepting the honor, Edwards reflected on the organization’s impact. He shared that Friends of Karen represents everything good about community, lifting families when life brings them to their knees. He expressed how humbled he is to support their work and to help them reach even more children and parents who need strength, dignity and hope.
For more than four decades, Friends of Karen has been a vital source of stability for families navigating a child’s life-threatening illness. Founded in 1978, the nonprofit provides emotional, financial and advocacy support to families across the New York tri-state area, ensuring they remain stable, functioning and able to cope during their most challenging moments. With a holistic and hands-on approach, the organization serves more than 500 families each year at no cost, supporting not only the ill child but every member of the household, including siblings who often carry the hidden emotional burden of a medical crisis.
